A Week in Bariloche with Kids:Our Family Itinerary That Worked

Bariloche stole our hearts with its chocolate-box scenery and laid-back vibe, but traveling there with kids? That took some planning. After our trip, I’ve nailed down a week-long itinerary that kept everyone—tots to adults—happy. Here’s what worked for us.
Day 1: Settle In
We arrived at our rental near Lago Nahuel Huapi, unpacked, and let the kids run around the yard. Dinner was simple—pre-packed kosher pasta and sauce from home, cooked in our kitchenette.
Day 2: Chocolate Heaven
Bariloche’s famous for chocolate, so we hit Avenida Mitre’s shops. The kids loved watching chocolatiers at Mamushka and picking out kosher treats (check labels—some are certified!). We kept it low-key with a lakeside picnic after.
Day 3: Cerro Campanario
A short chairlift ride up this hill gave us jaw-dropping views. The kids smiled the whole way up, and we packed snacks for a mountaintop break. Easy trails kept little legs busy without wearing them out.
Day 4: Lake Day
We rented paddleboats at the lake—life jackets for all, of course. The kids splashed and “helped” paddle while we soaked in the scenery. Dinner was frozen food, organized by Embrace Bariloche staff..
Day 5: Circuito Chico
This half-day loop by car showed off forests and lookout points. We stopped at Playa Bonita for the kids to toss pebbles and run around. Packed lunches kept it fuss-free.
Day 6: Rest and Play
After adventures, we stayed in—board games, a movie night with popcorn, and early bedtime. The kids needed it, and honestly, so did we.
Day 7: Farewell Stroll
A slow walk through town, grabbing last-minute souvenirs (wooden toys for the kids), and one more chocolate stop before heading out.
It wasn’t perfect—the kids had their meltdowns—but this mix of nature, treats, and chill time made Bariloche a win for us. Tweak it for your crew, and you’ll see why we’re already plotting a return.
